Tangerine – For one of the most flexible cash back credit cards, check out the Tangerine Mastercard. Tangerine offers 2% cash back in up to three categories of your choice, and 0.5% on everything else. You can change your categories every three months! I actually think this card has a place in the wallet of anyone looking to maximize the value they get from credit cards.
MBNA Smart Cash Platinum Plus® Mastercard® This card gives you 2% cash back on gas and groceries, and 0.5% cash back on everything else. Two things differentiate it from the Tangerine card (which is otherwise better and more flexible). The MBNA card offers 5% for the first six months on gas and groceries. This card also seems to pretty much always have a six month, 0.0% balance transfer offer available on its website. If you’ve run up a balance on another card, taking six months off of paying interest can really help you get a head start on becoming debt free.
