Using card points on travel will often be the best value. Here are a few cards that I recommend frequently to friends and family:
American Express® Gold Rewards Card I’ve paid for several trips with the Membership Rewards points earned with this card.
The Platinum Card by American Express. I have recently upgraded my Gold Rewards card to Platinum. Though the annual fee is very high ($699!), this card provides many perks for frequent travelers. In the first year, the annual fee is more than offset by the signup bonus and travel credit so I’m going to try it out and see if it’s worth keeping long term.
Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card – Both the above cards are charge cards, meaning the full balance needs to be paid each month. The Scotiabank card is a standard credit card, and it has great rewards earning rates and travel insurance coverage.
